1. About RentMatch

RentMatch ("we", "us", "the platform") provides a document verification service that allows tenants to create verified profiles and estate agents to browse and connect with those tenants.

RentMatch is a verification tool only. We do not perform credit bureau checks, FICA assessments, KYC compliance checks, or any form of regulated financial screening. We verify the authenticity and consistency of submitted documents and present this information as a verification score. We make no guarantees regarding a tenant's suitability for any particular tenancy.

2. Eligibility

• You must be 18 years of age or older to use this platform.
• You must be a South African resident to register as a tenant.
• Estate agents must be a registered business or individual operating legally in South Africa.
• By registering, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and truthful.

3. Terms for Tenants

3.1 Document Authenticity

By submitting documents to RentMatch, you warrant that:

• All documents are genuine, unaltered, and belong to you
• The information contained in the documents is accurate and current
• You have not attempted to manipulate, forge, or misrepresent any document

Submitting fraudulent, forged, or altered documents is a criminal offence under South African law. RentMatch reserves the right to report suspected fraud to the relevant authorities and to permanently ban any account found to be in violation.

3.2 Profile Visibility

Once verified, your profile is displayed anonymously in the tenant directory and is visible to approved estate agents. You may deactivate or delete your profile at any time via your account settings or by contacting us at privacy@rentmatch.co.za.

3.3 Connections

When an estate agent uses a token to connect with your profile, your real name, contact details, and a PDF verification report are shared with that estate agent. You acknowledge and consent to this disclosure by creating a profile on the platform.

4. Terms for Estate Agents

4.1 Approval

Estate agent accounts are subject to approval by RentMatch. We reserve the right to decline or revoke access at our discretion.

4.2 Tokens and Payments

Tokens are purchased via BobPay and are non-refundable once used to connect with a tenant. Unused tokens may be subject to the refund policy outlined at the time of purchase.

4.3 Use of Tenant Information

Tenant information obtained through a connection may only be used for the purpose of evaluating a tenancy. You may not:

• Share, sell, or distribute tenant information to any third party
• Use tenant information for any purpose other than assessing the tenancy
• Retain tenant documents or reports longer than reasonably necessary

By using the platform, estate agents agree to handle tenant personal information in compliance with POPIA and any other applicable South African privacy legislation.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

RentMatch provides document verification services on an "as is" basis. We do not warrant that:

• A verified tenant will be a suitable tenant for any specific property
• Our verification system will detect all instances of fraud or document manipulation
• The platform will be available without interruption or error

A high verification score is an indicator of document authenticity and consistency, not a guarantee of tenant character, behaviour, or future payment performance. Estate agents remain solely responsible for their own tenancy decisions.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, RentMatch shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to losses arising from reliance on a tenant's verification score or report.

7. Account Termination

Either party may terminate their account at any time. RentMatch reserves the right to:

• Suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these terms
• Remove profiles or content that violate these terms without notice
• Decline registration to any person or entity without providing a reason

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when changes are made.
